EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for PTSD and various other distressing events, situations, and experiences. It has been found to help clients process past, recent/current and ongoing traumatic experiences, and even future fears/anxiety. It is important to understand that as one is participating in EMDR, distressing emotions, thoughts, images, and physical sensations can arise. However, the calming and peaceful sensations that are also experienced in relation to your brain making sense of the distressing situation, as well as the long-lasting effects of EMDR Therapy, make it well worth it.
